Get out of the SES sandbox.
New Amazon SES accounts can only email verified addresses until AWS grants production access. Answer four questions and get a support request written the way AWS reviewers want to read it. Nothing you type leaves this page.
Your support request
Use case description: We send opt-in marketing email (newsletters and campaign announcements) to our subscribers. Our website is our website. How we built our recipient list: Every recipient opted in through a signup form on our own website. We never purchase, rent, or scrape email addresses, and we only email people who have a direct relationship with us. How we handle bounces and complaints: We send through GoodPostal (goodpostal.com), a campaign platform that connects to our own SES account. It subscribes to SES bounce and complaint notifications automatically: hard bounces and complaints immediately suppress the recipient so they are never emailed again. Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribes take effect immediately. How recipients can opt out: Every marketing email includes a visible unsubscribe link and supports one-click list-unsubscribe headers. Opt-outs are processed immediately and automatically. Expected sending volume: We expect to send approximately a few hundred emails per day initially, growing gradually as our audience grows. We will ramp volume slowly to build sender reputation.
Where to paste it
In the AWS console, open the SES dashboard, choose Request production access (or open a Service Quotas / support case for SES sending limits), select your region, pick Marketing or Transactional to match your answer above, and paste the text into the use-case field. AWS typically answers within one business day. Approval usually starts at 50,000 emails per day.
The reviewers approve requests that show a real opt-in list, a bounce and complaint plan, and a gradual volume ramp, which is exactly what this text spells out. Once approved, the Amazon SES setup guide connects your account to GoodPostal in a few minutes.
