Migrate from HubSpot

Move your marketing contacts and email program from HubSpot Marketing Hub to GoodPostal. This guide walks through the entire process step by step.

Migration Overview

   Export marketing contacts from HubSpot

   Export the contacts you actually email as a CSV.

   Set up GoodPostal

   Create your account, connect an email sending service, and verify your sender. See Getting Started.

   Import contacts

   Upload the CSV into GoodPostal and organize contacts into groups.

   Rebuild your templates

   Recreate your marketing email layout in the GoodPostal editor.

Step 1: Export from HubSpot

   Open the contacts view you email

   In HubSpot, go to Contacts and open the view or active list you want to move. Filtering by Marketing contact status and subscription status first keeps the export clean.

   Export the view

   Use the table's Export option, choose CSV, and decide between the properties in the view or all properties. Exporting needs export permissions on your HubSpot seat.

   Download from the email link

   HubSpot emails you a download link when the file is ready. Links expire after 30 days.

Step 2: Import into GoodPostal

   Create contact groups

   Create a GoodPostal group per HubSpot list or segment you send to (e.g., "Newsletter", "Product updates").

   Rename the export headers

   HubSpot exports First Name, Last Name, Email, and any properties you chose. GoodPostal reads columns by exact name, so rename them to email, first_name, and last_name in a spreadsheet first. Leaving them as HubSpot wrote them imports every name as blank.

   Import the CSV

   On the Contacts page click Import and upload the file.

   Put the new contacts in a group

   The import has no group selector. After it finishes, select the new contacts in the Contacts list and use Add to Group.

   Verify the counts

   Confirm the imported count matches the contacts you meant to move.

Step 3: Rebuild Templates

Rebuild your marketing email layout in the GoodPostal drag-and-drop editor using the component library. Replace HubSpot personalization tokens (properties like the contact's first name) with GoodPostal merge tags such as {{ first_name }}, {{ email }}, and {{ unsubscribe_url }}.

What Does Not Migrate

• CRM records, deals, and pipelines - Keep them in HubSpot; GoodPostal replaces the marketing email side only.
• Workflows and automation - HubSpot workflows have no direct GoodPostal equivalent.
• HubSpot-hosted landing pages and forms - Rebuild signup with GoodPostal subscription forms embedded on your own site.

Post-Migration Checklist

• Marketing contact counts match what you intended to move
• Groups mirror the lists you send to
• Unsubscribed and bounced contacts were NOT imported
• Email sending service is connected and verified
• Templates rebuilt and a test email sent
• Signup forms swapped to GoodPostal where needed
• Marketing Hub downgraded (or marketing contacts set to non-marketing) so the next HubSpot invoice reflects the move
