Migrate from Klaviyo
Move your profiles, lists, and segments from Klaviyo to GoodPostal. This guide walks through the entire process step by step.
Migration Overview
The migration involves exporting your profiles from Klaviyo and importing them into GoodPostal. Plan for about 30 minutes for a typical migration.
- 1
Export profiles from Klaviyo
Download each list or segment as a CSV file from Klaviyo. - 2
Set up GoodPostal
Create your account, connect an email sending service, and verify your sender. See Getting Started for details. - 3
Import contacts
Rename the exported CSV headers to match GoodPostal, then upload one file per Klaviyo list or segment. - 4
Rebuild your templates
Rebuild your Klaviyo designs in the drag-and-drop editor, or have an AI assistant build them, then swap the merge tags.
Step 1: Export from Klaviyo
Exporting a List or Segment
- 1
Open the list or segment
In Klaviyo, go to Audience and click into the list or segment you want to export. - 2
Export to CSV
Open the Manage list / Manage segment dropdown and choose Export to CSV. You can export all profile properties or just the ones you need; fewer properties makes the export faster. - 3
Download the file
Exports are available under Settings > Other > Downloads for 30 days. Only Owner, Admin, and Analyst roles can export.
Exporting Everyone at Once
Klaviyo has no single "export all" button. The standard approach is to create an all-inclusive segment with the definition: if someone can or cannot receive email marketing, setting one condition to can receive OR a second to cannot receive. That segment contains every profile, and you export it like any other segment.
Step 2: Import into GoodPostal
- 1
Create contact groups
Create a group in GoodPostal for each Klaviyo list or segment you exported (e.g., "Newsletter", "VIP Customers"). - 2
Rename the export headers
GoodPostal reads columns by exact name, so rename Klaviyo's headers toemail,first_name, andlast_namein a spreadsheet first. A file without a column literally namedemailis rejected. - 3
Import each CSV
On the Contacts page click Import and upload a file. Repeat per file. - 4
Put each batch in its group
The import has no group selector. After each import finishes, select the new contacts in the Contacts list and use Add to Group. - 5
Verify the counts
Check that contact counts and group assignments match what Klaviyo showed.
Step 3: Rebuild Templates
Rebuild each design in GoodPostal's drag-and-drop editor using the component library, or connect an AI assistant and describe the design you want. Then swap the personalization tags:
{{ first_name }} - First name
{{ last_name }} - Last name
{{ email }} - Email address
{% unsubscribe %} - Unsubscribe link
{{ organization.name }} - Company nameFor a fresh start, use the drag-and-drop editor with the component library, or ask an AI assistant connected to GoodPostal to rebuild the design for you.
What Does Not Migrate
- Flows and automations - GoodPostal is a campaign platform. Klaviyo flows (abandoned cart, welcome series) have no direct equivalent and stay behind.
- E-commerce catalog data - Product feeds and catalog blocks are Klaviyo-specific.
- Historical campaign analytics - Export any reports you need before closing your account.
