Migrate from MailerLite

Move your subscribers, groups, and email marketing from MailerLite to GoodPostal. This guide walks through the entire process step by step.

Tip
MailerLite prices by subscriber count, so your bill steps up as your list grows. GoodPostal is $19 a month plus 5 cents per 1,000 emails sent, with no per-contact pricing. See pricing for the full breakdown.

Migration Overview

  1. 1

    Export subscribers from MailerLite

Download your active subscribers as a CSV, with group names included.
  2. 2

    Set up GoodPostal

Create your account, connect an email sending service, and verify your sender. See Getting Started.
  3. 3

    Import contacts

Upload the CSV into GoodPostal, one group per MailerLite group.
  4. 4

    Rebuild your templates

Recreate your newsletter layout in the GoodPostal editor and swap the personalization fields.

Step 1: Export from MailerLite

  1. 1

    Open the Subscribers page

In MailerLite, go to Subscribers. Filter to Active subscribers; you can also export unconfirmed, unsubscribed, bounced, and complained separately for your records.
  2. 2

    Set the columns first

MailerLite exports only the columns that are visible on the subscriber list at the moment you export. Use Set columns to add every field you want, including Groups so each subscriber carries its group names into the file.
  3. 3

    Select everyone

Click the dropdown arrow next to the Subscriber column header and choose to select all subscribers in the list, not just the visible page.
  4. 4

    Export

Click Actions and choose Export CSV (or Export CSV for Excel). Only account administrators can export.
Warning
Do not import unsubscribed, bounced, or complained subscribers into GoodPostal. They opted out or hard-bounced; re-adding them as active contacts violates anti-spam regulations.

Step 2: Import into GoodPostal

  1. 1

    Create contact groups

Create a GoodPostal group for each MailerLite group you use for sending.
  2. 2

    Rename the export headers

GoodPostal reads columns by exact name, so rename MailerLite's headers to email, first_name, and last_name in a spreadsheet first. A file without a column literally named email is rejected. While you are there, if you exported one combined file with a Groups column, filter it by group and save one file per group.
  3. 3

    Import one file per group

On the Contacts page click Import and upload a file.
  4. 4

Put each batch in its group

The import has no group selector. After each import finishes, select the new contacts in the Contacts list and use Add to Group.
  5. 5

    Verify the counts

Confirm the active subscriber count matches MailerLite.

Step 3: Rebuild Templates

Warning
Pasting a MailerLite HTML export into GoodPostal does not work. MailerLite exports are table-based layouts, and GoodPostal's Code Mode only understands its own block markup, so the layout is dropped rather than converted.

Rebuild your newsletter layout in the GoodPostal drag-and-drop editor, or have an AI assistant build it for you. Replace MailerLite personalization fields (the ones you insert from the editor's personalization menu, like the subscriber's name) with GoodPostal merge tags such as {{ first_name }}, {{ email }}, and {{ unsubscribe_url }}.

What Does Not Migrate

  • Automations - MailerLite workflows have no direct GoodPostal equivalent.
  • MailerLite-hosted landing pages and websites - Rebuild signup with GoodPostal subscription forms embedded on your own site.
  • Historical campaign stats - Export any reports you need before closing the account.

Post-Migration Checklist

  • Active subscriber count matches MailerLite
  • Groups mirror your MailerLite groups
  • Unsubscribed and bounced contacts were NOT imported
  • Email sending service is connected and verified
  • Templates rebuilt and a test email sent
  • Signup forms swapped to GoodPostal
  • MailerLite subscription downgraded or cancelled
Tip
Keep your MailerLite account readable for a few weeks after migration until you have confirmed everything works in GoodPostal.
